Cave Club
The Cave Club employs dramatization and the hands-on creation of art projects to interpret and bring to life an early era in human evolution. By delving into an ancient existence using multi-sensory activities and socialization skills, six to seven year old students discuss, experiment with and learn archaeology, geology, science and math.
The club begins with the “Old Stone Age,” forming a foundation on which to build throughout the year. This phase encompasses prehistoric man’s social and cultural attributes, shelter, food, tools, and weapons. The second phase explores the “New Stone Age.” This era introduces the inventions of huts, canoes, superstitions, and the wheel in addition to socialization concepts.
The Cave Club compares today’s lifestyle with ways of life in the distant past. It also introduces new vocabulary and new concepts that the students learn to integrate into their lives.
