Washington Lab School Openings

Full time occupational therapy aide

Not sure of your career path? If you think occupational therapy might be your choice, come to work as our aide. On site job training provided to work with all age groups at the school under the supervision of occupational therapists. Must enjoy children, be energetic, flexible and well-organized. Full time and part time occupational therapists

Join our dynamic department of occupational therapists to work with students at The Lab School. Strong mentorship provided, excellent resources and colleagues, SI and NDT based treatment approaches. Must be eligible for licensure as an occupational therapist or certified occupational therapy assistant in the District of Columbia with a degree in occupational therapy or from an accredited occupational therapy assistant program. Start in August 2008.

Accounting Manager/Senior Accountant/General Ledger Accountant

We have an immediate opening for a full-time Accounting Manager/Senior General Ledger Accountant with a progression opportunity available in the near future. This position is responsible for accurate and detailed general ledger and month-end closes, journal entries, variance analysis, bank reconciliations, the integrity of financial statements, financial statement reporting/analysis, payroll reconciliation/analysis, balance sheet reconciliation/analysis, managing A/P and A/R associates and other duties consistent with the position.

Proficiency in MS Excel, Word and Access preferred. Knowledge of Blackbaud HIGHLY desirable.

Qualified candidate must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and a minimum of 5 years of Financial Reporting, Managerial Accounting, Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable Experience.

Intermediate Program (Grades 5-6)

Position: Classroom Teacher

The Lab School of Washington, a school for learning disabled students, places an emphasis on experiential learning as well as incorporates studio and performing arts into the daily curriculum. The classroom teacher is responsible for designing and implementing individualized educational programs for a class of eleven students in the areas of reading, math, and written language. Collaboration with the language therapist and occupational therapist supports developing effective programs for the students. The teacher also supervises classroom assistants. Masters Degree and Special Education Certification required.

Tutor

The Lab School of Washington has a Tutoring Corps that tutors students beyond the Lab School Community. Tutors are trained at the school in a tuition-free 9 month program including daily classroom experience as well as group seminars held twice weekly addressing scientifically-based teaching strategies. Trainees are under the close supervision and instruction by Director of Tutoring and LSW professional staff. After this intensive training, new tutors are expected to become active members of our paid Tutor Corps providing excellent tutoring services at The Lab School, in student's homes, schools and public libraries.
