Gala 2009 Awardee

2009 Outstanding Alumni Awardee
Rebecca Overmann, Class of 1990

Rebecca is a perfect example of a Lab School success story.  She graduated in 1990 and when we looked back over some of her teacher comments from her reports, it says, “Rebecca demonstrated outstanding art skills.  She displayed a fine eye for detail, and the patience to execute her designs…’with her good intellectual capabilities, study skills and interest in learning, Rebecca can look forward to success in both an academic and business setting.

Rebecca was accepted at Savannah College of Art and after graduating there went on to San Francisco where she began creating her own jewelry at the public art studio space in Golden Gate Park.  She launched her own jewelry design business in 2002.  Rebecca creates elegant sculpted pieces in hand-forged gold, sterling and other precious metals and gemstones and has expanded her line to include pieces for men.  Her line is known for its elegance and simplicity.  Congratulations, Rebecca, on receiving our Outstanding Alumni Award, 2009!

On Gala morning, Rebecca met with the student council over breakfast for a question/answer session.  She brought some of her jewelry creations to show the students.  Everyone had a great time.
