Kaiser Permanente Lecture Series for Parents & Professionals

Helping children learn … Helping parents help their children

No one said it is easy to raise a child, no less a learning disabled one…

Evening lectures for parents and professionals are held once a month on Wednesdays throughout the school year. Speakers include noted and experienced researchers, psychologists, social workers, teachers, therapists from the Washington Metro area and The Lab School speak to and discuss with parents and professionals pertinent issues some include:

  • Treating Anxiety
  • Helping Children with Sleeping Disorders
  • Psychiatric Aspects of Child Obesity
  • Raising LD Children in a Digital Age
  • Adults with LD Tell Their Story
  • Building Self-Esteem
  • Brothers and Sisters of the LD Child
  • Social Issues of the LD Child and Adolescent

Each speaker provides handouts for participants. The informal structure and small audience allows for a question answer period and lengthy discussions so each parent and professional has the opportunity to ask personal and individualized questions.

Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the LD child, learn strategies to help that child, and have an opportunity to share their own thoughts and feelings.
