The Lab School of Washington
 High School/Alumni Career Day
Friday, March 13, 2009
career day group
Early spring brought an exciting event to Lab!  On the afternoon of Friday, March 13, 2009, the first official LSW High School/Alumni Career Day was held.  Fifteen speakers came to Lab to discuss their professions with the 10th, 11th, and 12th graders.  Of these 15, 11 speakers were alumni.
Our day began with a brief orientation and photo op at 12:45 PM.  Next, student council members escorted the speakers to the High School floor.  Students had chosen 4 speakers to listen to and they rotated through the selected speaker rooms for four 20 minute presentations by an alumni or other professional.  Each presenter spoke about his or her career, the skills and abilities necessary for the job, education needed and allowed plenty of time for questions from the students.  The day ended with a lively reception in the Kelly Theater.
The Lab School of Washington High School and the Lab School Alumni Association would like to thank the following presenters who gave of their time to participate in Career Day, 2009:

Life after Lab/Alumni Event
January 7, 2009

Once again, the New Year was greeted by the annual alumni event, Life after Lab, presented by High School Counselor Mrs. Trudy Fleisher.  Nearly 40 alumni from classes 2004 to 2008 returned to the Kelly Theater to hear four fellow alumni honestly answer questions, give recommendations and offer words of support regarding their experience with college life.  The panelists were:  Carlos Fernandez Martinez ’07, National Hispanic University, Jess Orloff ’08, Adelphi University, Bryan Wood ’07, Tennessee State University and Peter Tennis ’08, Drew University.  These four graduates, as well as the alumni in the audience, openly shared their college experiences with Lab School Juniors, Seniors and staff.  Everyone enjoyed the pizza lunch and had a great time getting together again.  It was a wonderful way to kick off 2009 and the new semester.
