Philadelphia School
The original Lab School is located in Washington, DC. In 2000, a second campus (Baltimore Lab –opened in Baltimore, Maryland. In 2005, the Lab School of Washington began working with other schools to share the Lab School and Academic Club Methodologies with other cities. Premier among them is Philadelphia ’s Academy in Manayunk, which opened in conjunction with The Lab School in September 2006.
The Academy In Manayunk is the vision of a team of professional educators, community leaders, concerned parents, and a devoted grandfather who recognized that the Philadelphia region needed to expand the programs and research-to-practice approaches for children with learning disabilities. While other schools in the region offer learning-disabled children an education, the Academy incorporates visual and performing arts with rigorous academics to meet the individual learning styles of its students. Academy students “live it and learn it” through educational immersion, research-based learning strategies, and assistive technology.
