Speech - Language Summer Program

The speech-language department has over twenty licensed speech-language pathologists on site who are available to provide individual and small group speech-language therapy to students attending the summer camp program.

Goals are individualized according to the student’s needs and focus on a range of areas including receptive language (understanding of language), expressive language, phonological awareness, reading, written language, articulation, etc. We understand that many students who have academic challenges may have a language-based weakness impacting their school performance and offer speech-language services to those who do.

The speech-language pathology department also offers two intensive programs each summer:

The Intensive Phonological Awareness and Reading Fluency Program focuses on phonological awareness as applied to reading and spelling and on rapid naming and reading fluency. This program is offered daily both before and after the summer school day so that students can benefit from attending both programs and/or only come to one or the other.

We also offer The Problem Solvers’ Brigade, which is another intensive program offered three times weekly for students with social pragmatic needs and/or needs in verbal problem solving and expressive language.

We work with students who attend the Lab School day program as well as children and adults from the larger community who come for speech-language services before and/or after our school day. Anyone interested in any of the speech-language services listed above, and/or comprehensive speech-language testing, should feel free to call the Speech and Language Department at The Lab School of Washington. We would be delighted to see how we might help you.
