Coping with a learning disability isn’t easy. Academic struggles can lead to poor self-esteem, anxiety, and depression. It is often difficult for students with learning disabilities to “fit in,” so they may also grapple with social challenges.
We’re here to help. We offer psychoeducational assessment and psychotherapy treatment for individuals of all ages and their families. Our licensed psychologists and social workers are experienced in working with a range of social, behavioral, and emotional difficulties. Our team specializes in learning disabilities, ADHD and related behavior disorders, mood and anxiety disorders, and accompanying social and emotional challenges.
Psychological Assessment
Psychoeducational evaluation entails two-to-three days of testing. This provides a cognitive profile of a student’s strengths and weaknesses in areas fundamental to learning and school performance. The profile is interpreted in the context of the student’s medical, social, educational, and emotional history in order to fully understand the presenting problems. A detailed written report provides families with a comprehensive record of the assessment results and gives clear, useful conclusions and recommendations about “next steps.”
If a full psychoeducational assessment is not needed, Consultation and/or Limited Evaluation can provide targeted testing or a valuable expert opinion. Your psychologist will work with you to determine the necessary assessment for your needs.
