The 30th Annual Lab School Gala Honoring Outstanding Achievers with Learning Differences will be held on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at The National Building Museum. We are pleased to announce that Lab parents Julie and Scott Butler will chair this year's event. Richard Ford, Pulitzer Prize winning novelist, and Vin Roberti, Chairman of Roberti + White, a government affairs and public relations firm, will be honored as Outstanding Achievers with Learning Differences. Jaclyn Mason '01, owner of Charm Georgetown, will accept the 2014 Outstanding Alumni award.
The Lab School hosts an annual gala and dinner dance to raise critical funds to continue the mission of the School- to unlock each child's full potential. Our students are bright, creative, and engaged. They also learn differently, in ways that Lab understands and supports. Lab has proven its non-traditional, arts-infused teaching methods are uniquely effective in helping students master rigorous academics. In fact, the problem-solving strategies Lab teaches often give its students an advantage over students who approach schoolwork more conventionally. We hope you will support The Lab School through your contribution to this important event.
The gala raises awareness about learning disabilities and recognizes people who have overcome learning differences to become highly successful in their fields. In addition to attending and speaking at the gala, awardees spend the day visiting The Lab School and engaging with students. A highlight of the day is a Question & Answer assembly where students have the opportunity to hear, very personally, how these successful people struggled with many of the issues our own students face. This spectacular evening event begins with a reception for the Awardees, silent auction, followed by a dinner program and dancing.
The 2013 Gala Honoring Outstanding Achievers with Learning Differences was an outstanding success. We are grateful to all who attended and supported the event. Your generosity allows Lab to continue its innovative and effective programming for students with learning differences.
