It isn't easy to be the child that thinks and learns differently from other kids. Students with learning differences may grapple with social challenges, feeling it's hard to fit in with their peers. Academic struggles can lead to poor self-esteem, anxiety, and depression. This can be as painful for you as it is for your child.
We’re here to help. We offer psychoeducational assessment and psychotherapy treatmentfor students of all ages and their families. Our licensed psychologists and social workers specialize in learning differences, ADHD and related behavior issues, mood and anxiety disroders, and accompanying social and emotional challenges. These services are available to children and parents - from Lab and other schools - who may seek our assistance on their own, or be referred by an outside specialist. Psychological Assessment
Psychoeducational evaluation involves two-to-three days of testing. This provides a cognitive profile of your child's strengths and weaknesses in areas key to learning and school performance. We interpret the profile in the context of the student’s medical, social, educational, and emotional history in order to fully understand the presenting problems. Our detailed written report provides you with a comprehensive record of the assessment results and gives clear, useful conclusions and recommendations about “next steps” that will help your child master difficult social and emotional hurdles.
If a full psychoeducational assessment is not needed, Consultation and/or Limited Evaluation can provide targeted testing or a valuable expert opinion. Your psychologist will work with you to determine the necessary assessment for your needs.
