In Mid-March, Head of School Katherine Schantz received the Hall of Fame Award at The Paul Rabil Foundation’s annual celebration of the Foundation’s support of students with learning differences.
Katherine was honored for her early encouragement and support of the efforts of lacrosse star Paul and the foundation he started, to make the connection between the sport of lacrosse and success for students with learning differences. Introducing Katherine to the crowd, Paul recalled first meeting Katherine and sharing his germ of an idea to give back by raising money for scholarships for students with learning differences. The Lab School of Washington and Baltimore Lab School were the first recipients of these scholarships in 2011 and the program has now expanded to seven schools and more than 180 micro-scholarships have been awarded.
Paul was honored several years ago as Lab’s annual Awards Gala. His sister, Rebecca, is a 2006 graduate of The Lab School of Washington.
Paul and his brother Mike recently launched the Professional Lacrosse League with six teams who will play across the country in the coming months.
