The Lab School of Washington (“Lab School”) is pleased to provide access to its swimming facility to Community Swim members during designated Community Swim hours. All required information is found on, or linked to, this webpage.

School Year Community Swim will recommence September 11, 2017.
Both individual and family memberships are available. Three levels of membership will be offered:
- Full Year – September 2017 to May 2018,
- Partial Year – January 2018 to May 2018,
- One week – Introductory membership, available once during the year.
ABOUT OUR FACILITIES:
The pool is kept between 82-84 degrees and offers safety vests, kickboards, flippers, and other swimming aids to visitors.
Changing rooms and showers are available.
Visitors can sign up as an individual or family to exercise on their own time, sign up for private swimming sessions with professionally certified staff, or rent the pool for triathlon training and scuba diving sessions. Many local area swim teams also use our facilities to practice and train for events.

ENROLLMENT in Community Swim
To register as a member, please come to the Lab School Business Office to complete the membership application and submit the required fees. Once approved, the member will receive an access SWIPE card. Lab School Business Office hours are 9:00am-4:00pm. The Business Office is located across from The Lab School on Whitehaven (not Reservoir Road) at 4749 Whitehaven Parkway. To replace a lost SWIPE card please return to the Business Office. The fee for a replacement card is $25.00.
ACCESS to the pool deck is through the use of assigned SWIPE CARDS
Community Participants MUST have their SWIPE cards with them to access the pool. If you need help using your SWIPE card please contact Tony Barnett at 202-580-7041 or see desk attendant when you come in for a swim.
ALERT SYSTEM for schedule changes
An alert system is being established for closings, inclement weather issues, changes in the swimming schedule and pool availability. If you would like to be on this list please let our desk attendant know your name and cell number or get it directly to Tony at: firstname.lastname@example.org, or 202-580-7041. A test of the system is scheduled for this summer.

Parking and building entry
– Please park on the Reservoir Road side parking lot. – Entry to the building is ONLY through the Reservoir Road side. – For your protection all Community Swimmers MUST exit the Athletic Building no later than ten minutes after the swim session has concluded.
Pool deck entry
– After entering the building, please continue down the hallway and enter the pool through the locker rooms,
– Swipe magnetic card in front of sensor to unlock the doors,
– Enter through the doorways and onto the pool deck,
– Show your card to our guard,
– Sign our check-in sheet.

Swimming is not permitted outside the designated Community Swim hours or when the pool is closed for holidays or events.
Swimming is prohibited without the presence of a designated staff member within the swimming facility.
Children under the age of thirteen (13) must be accompanied and supervised by an adult of eighteen (18) years or older at all times.
Children under the age of six (6) must be accompanied by an adult at all times and must be within an arm's length of the adult when in the pool. There should be no more than three children under the supervision of one adult. One adult can accompany a maximum of three children, six (6) years of age and younger. An adult supervising children ages six (6) to twelve (12) cannot be responsible for a group larger than six children.
Parents or guardians accompanying children six (6) years or older must use gender-appropriate locker/changing rooms. If you have special needs or require other accommodations, please contact a staff member at the swimming facility or call 202-580-7041.
The actions and conduct of an organized group are the responsibility of the group leader(s). Misconduct of individuals may result in dismissal of the group.

No pets are allowed in the swimming facility or on The Lab campus. Only registered service animals may enter the facility and must remain out of the water and under supervision at all times.
Persons with open wounds, rashes, inflammation, or other bodily discharge may access the deck of the swimming facility, but are not permitted to enter the pool.
Persons under the influence of alcohol or drugs will not be permitted to access the swimming facility.
Persons on medications affecting their cognition, balance, heart rate, blood pressure, and other vital functions must have authorization from their physicians to swim.
Infants and children that are not toilet trained are not permitted to use the swimming facility. Additionally, diapers (cloth and disposable) are prohibited.
Bicycles, skateboards, and similar vehicles cannot be utilized on the campus and are not permitted in the swimming facility.
Food consumption and glass containers are prohibited in the swimming facility.
Spitting and urinating in the pool is prohibited and may result in ejection from the swimming facility and revocation of membership.
The use of any tobacco product is strictly prohibited on The Lab School campus.
Running, splashing, or horseplay in or around the pool is prohibited and may result in ejection from the swimming facility and revocation of membership as determined by the attending lifeguard.
Diving into this pool at any depth under 5 ½ feet is strictly prohibited and may result in ejection from the swimming facility and revocation of membership.
Toys, floating devices, snorkels, and masks may not be used unless approved by the attending lifeguard.
By joining the Community Swim Program the participant agrees to abide by the Community Swim Admission Policies and Community Swim Rules and Regulations and understands that failure to abide by these policies, rules and regulations may result in the revocation of membership and expulsion from the swimming facility without a refund. Additionally, to the fullest extent permitted by law, the undersigned agrees to:
indemnify and hold harmless the Lab School, its agents, and employees from any and all claims, damages, demands, expenses, liabilities, suits, causes of action, and demands of whatever nature, including those resulting from damage to property and/or personal injury, arising out of or in connection with their membership and use of the swimming facility;
release and discharge the Lab School, its agents, and employees from any and all claims, damages, losses, liabilities, suits, causes of action, and demands of whatever nature — present or future, known or unknown, anticipated or unanticipated — that result from or arise out of their membership and use of the swimming facility, including claims, damages, losses, liabilities, suits, causes of action, and demands of whatever nature that arise from the negligence of the Lab School, its agents, and employees;
release and discharge the Lab School, its agents, and employees from any and all costs and expenses, including but not limited to attorneys’ fees, arising in whole or in part, from any breach the aforementioned policies, rules and regulations that either directly or indirectly result in damage to property and/or personal injury.
