  • Access codes turned off June 1st

    **After June 1, participants need to go through the business office to either have cards re-activated or open up a new account. Business office hours for community participants are 9:00am-4:00pm. The business office is located across from The Lab School on Whitehaven (not Reservoir Rd.) at 4759 Whitehaven.
  • Last day prior to summer for both am & pm Community Swim is May 31

  • Community Swim starts back up on June 19 and continues through July 28

    Reminder: All swimmers MUST update their swipe cards. Please contact Tony at 202-580-7041 for help or see desk attendant when you come in for a swim.

    Also, please know that an alert system is being established for closings, inclement weather issues, changes in the swimming schedule and pool availability. If you would like to be on this list please let our desk attendant know your name and cell number or get it directaly to Tony at: tony.barnett@labschool.org, or 202-580-7041. A test of the system is scheduled for later this month.

    Please park on the Reservoir Road side parking lot.

    Morning swimmers MUST exit pool no later than 7:30am.

    All participants are to be off campus BEFORE 7:45am after their morning weekday swim.

    Evening swimmers MUST exit the Athletic Building no later than 9:00pm

    Please continue down the hallway and enter the pool through the locker rooms
    Swipe magnetic card in front of sensor to unlock the doors

  • Community Swim

    The Lab School of Washington (“Lab School”) provides access to its swimming facility during designated Community Swim hours and is available only to registered participants who have submitted a membership application and required fees, and have been approved for membership and received an access card (“swipe card”).

  • Rules and Regulations

    • Swimming is not permitted outside the designated Community Swim hours or when the pool is closed for holidays or events.
    • Swimming is prohibited without the presence of a designated staff member within the swimming facility.
    • Children under the age of thirteen (13) must be accompanied and supervised by an adult of eighteen (18) years or older at all times.
    • Children under the age of six (6) must be accompanied by an adult at all times and must be within an arm's length of the adult when in the pool. There should be no more than three children under the supervision of one adult. One adult can accompany a maximum of three children, six (6) years of age and younger. An adult supervising children ages six (6) to twelve (12) cannot be responsible for a group larger than six children.
    • Parents or guardians accompanying children six (6) years or older must use gender-appropriate locker/changing rooms. If you have special needs or require other accommodations, please contact a staff member at the swimming facility or call 202-580-7041.
    • The actions and conduct of an organized group are the responsibility of the group leader(s). Misconduct of individuals may result in dismissal of the group.
    • Appropriate swim attire is required in the swimming facility. Swim attire regulation are attached.
    • No pets are allowed in the swimming facility or on The Lab campus. Only registered service animals may enter the facility and must remain out of the water and under supervision at all times.
    • Persons with open wounds, rashes, inflammation, or other bodily discharge may access the deck of the swimming facility, but are not permitted to enter the pool.
    • Persons under the influence of alcohol or drugs will not be permitted to access the swimming facility.
    • Persons on medications affecting their cognition, balance, heart rate, blood pressure, and other vital functions must have authorization from their physicians to swim.
    • Infants and children that are not toilet trained are not permitted to use the swimming facility. Additionally, diapers (cloth and disposable) are prohibited.
    • Bicycles, skateboards, and similar vehicles cannot be utilized on the campus and are not permitted in the swimming facility.
    • Food consumption and glass containers are prohibited in the swimming facility.
    • Spitting and urinating in the pool is prohibited and may result in ejection from the swimming facility and revocation of membership.
    • The use of any tobacco product is strictly prohibited on The Lab School campus.
    • Running, splashing, or horseplay in or around the pool is prohibited and may result in ejection from the swimming facility and revocation of membership as determined by the attending lifeguard.
    • Diving into this pool at any depth under 5 ½ feet is strictly prohibited and may result in ejection from the swimming facility and revocation of membership.
    • Toys, floating devices, snorkels, and masks may not be used unless approved by the attending lifeguard.
  • Limitation of Liability

    • By joining the Community Swim Program the participant agrees to abide by the Community Swim Admission Policies and Community Swim Rules and Regulations and understands that failure to abide by these policies, rules and regulations may result in the revocation of membership and expulsion from the swimming facility without a refund. Additionally, to the fullest extent permitted by law, the undersigned agrees to:
      • (a) indemnify and hold harmless the Lab School, its agents, and employees from any and all claims, damages, demands, expenses, liabilities, suits, causes of action, and demands of whatever nature, including those resulting from damage to property and/or personal injury, arising out of or in connection with their membership and use of the swimming facility;

      • (b) release and discharge the Lab School, its agents, and employees from any and all claims, damages, losses, liabilities, suits, causes of action, and demands of whatever nature — present or future, known or unknown, anticipated or unanticipated — that result from or arise out of their membership and use of the swimming facility, including claims, damages, losses, liabilities, suits, causes of action, and demands of whatever nature that arise from the negligence of the Lab School, its agents, and employees;

      • (c) release and discharge the Lab School, its agents, and employees from any and all costs and expenses, including but not limited to attorneys’ fees, arising in whole or in part, from any breach the aforementioned policies, rules and regulations that either directly or indirectly result in damage to property and/or personal injury.
  • About Our Facilities:

    The pool is kept between 82-84 degrees and offers safety vests, kickboards, flippers, and other swimming aids to visitors.
     
    Visitors can sign up for private swimming sessions with professionally certified staff, rent the pool for triathlon training and scuba diving sessions, or simply sign up as an individual or family to exercise on their own time. Many local area swim teams also use our facilities to practice and train for events.
  • Admission Policies

    • Persons enrolled in the Community Swim program have limited access to the swimming facility from September 7, 2016 to July 29, 2017. The specific days and hours of access are available at: www.labschool.org/communityswim

    • All persons must abide by posted rules and staff directives. Failure to do so may result in ejection from the swimming facility and revocation of membership.

    • All persons must access the swimming facility by using their swipe card at the changing room pool deck door, and signing the attendance clip board.
  • Member Rates and Requirements:

    Pool access is available to registered participants.
