Highlighting Lab's Newest Alums - Maya Kohn '23
Maya Kohn possesses talents in each area of STEAM - - evident in Physics and Linear Algebra at Lab, a Calculus class through Montgomery College, a Civil Engineering and Architecture course at Stevens Institute of Technology, and her work in theater tech. Throughout high school, she applied her intrinsic skills and knowledge gained to artistic endeavors, including her Senior Thesis Applied Project. Maya argued that historic sexism resulted in forgotten female artists. She supported her argument by surveying classmates on the quality of Baroque-style works of art (which Maya had actually created using AI, assigning a gender to each “unknown artist”) and analyzing the results for subconscious bias. Lab is excited to hear how Maya will continue to showcase her talents in STEAM as she heads to Oberlin College this fall to study math and theater.
