What Was the Arrival Period in American History?

Empathy, creativity, and a great deal of thought ...

Students in Junior High Democracy class, headed up by Ms. Krieck, are engaged in a project of their choice that shows what they learned about the Arrival period in American history (1607-1700) from the European, African, and Native perspectives.

Students are approaching this exploration from several different angles — from working on diary entries and creating 3D models of the clothing worn by each group, with a focus on Massachusetts to creating Lego models juxtaposing how each group experienced their first interactions and building models for a 3D printer showing how the experiences of each group was shaped by the objects they came in contact such as shackles, tobacco, and the land.
