Camp SMILE: Sensory-Motor Integration and Language Experience
Two Programs: Ages 4–7 and Ages 8–11 7:45am–12:45pm Monday–Friday Tuition: $4,550 for completed contracts and full payment received by March 8; $4,950 after March 8
Give your child the experience of a dynamic camp day that offers a multitude of sensory experiences, as well as daily practice with social skills, self-regulation, and challenging motor activities.
2:1 ratio for instruction and therapy.
Activities of Daily Living are integrated throughout the day to promote executive function skills and independence.
Occupational therapy activities emphasize balance, gross- and fine-motor coordination, body awareness, motor planning and core strength.
Speech-language games target whole-body listening, turn-taking, and problem-solving.
Story and arts and crafts groups address early literacy, concept development, and fine-motor and perceptual skills through dynamic, multi-sensory instruction.
Yoga and mindfulness practices, in conjunction with individualized sensory strategies, promote self-awareness.
Outdoor exploration of the garden enhances the sensory experience.
End-of-camp report provides individualized suggestions for home and school.
Ages 8–11: Camp SMILE Discovery
In addition to the activities and skills addressed to the left, our older campers get the opportunity to become discovery rangers, exploring the natural world through the club method!
Each camper and leader takes on the persona of a famous naturalist.
Daily passwords and opening/closing rituals strengthen the dramatic framework.
Hands-on, project-based learning activities build teamwork, curiosity, and creativity.
A brief screening will be required before enrollment into Camp SMILE.

Interactive Metronome Training
Ages 8+ (contact us if your child is younger than 8) Times (choose one): 1:30pm–2:30pm, 2:30pm–3:30pm Tuition: $2,900
What is IM? The Interactive Metronome® (IM) is a computer-based program shown to improve attention, coordination, and timing in students. During each session, the participant listens to a rhythmic beat while completing various hand and foot exercises.
Benefits of Interactive Metronome include:
improving working memory, learning to filter distractions, inhibiting impulsivity, and promoting self-regulation.
addressing weaknesses in skill areas such as fine-motor coordination, handwriting, gross-motor coordination, agility, and visual/perceptual motor skills.
offering individualized one-on-one program.
Sessions will be provided by an occupational therapist trained in IM.
To provide the most effective treatment, a questionnaire of occupational therapy skills will be completed prior to the first session.

Handwriting, keyboarding, puzzles, mazes, projects! Join the team of occupational therapists to work on fine motor skills and improve handwriting, keyboarding, and use of tools. Each day will include activities that improve visual motor integration. Using fun tasks and drills, therapists will develop a progression of just-right challenges within a developmental framework to build the necessary skills needed for written communication such as handwriting and keyboarding. They will also present visual-spatial tasks including puzzles, mazes, and reading charts and graphs.
This group includes:
individualized handwriting instruction.
individualized keyboarding instruction.
assignment of online keyboarding account for at-home practice
exploration and functional use of various academic tools:
rulers, yardsticks, measuring cups, compasses, protractors, hole punches, etc.
Sensory Motor Movement Group: Bike, Swing, and Jump!
Ages 6–10 Times: 1:30pm–2:30pm Tuition: $2,400
Does your child want to learn to ride a bike? Become more coordinated at sports? Build overall strength and endurance? Or maybe enhance his or her sensory regulation skills to better participate in school and play activities? This group incorporates Sensory Integration therapy techniques, which expose children to sensory activities through structured, experiential methods, while teaching simple, easy to understand, multi-step gross motor tasks. Obstacle courses will be incorporated throughout the four weeks. Lead by a team of specially trained occupational therapists, this group targets:
improving balance skills and gravitational insecurities.
supporting movement and vestibular registration difficulties.
increasing body awareness and motor planning.
building strength, endurance, and bilateral coordination.
*The BIG ROOM (on the Foxhall Campus): Sensory motor room with balls, bolsters, swings, balance beams, scooter boards, and more, will be utilized most days!
*A couple sessions per week will be devoted to bike riding outside
NEW! Summer OccuPAWtional Therapy: Bingo’s “PACK”
Ages 6–10 Bingo, The Lab School’s facility dog, will join six of the 19 sessions. Times: 1:30pm–2:30pm Tuition: $2,550

This pack will work together to target skills in:
activities of daily living (ADLs).
fine motor and visual integration.
planning and organizing.
self-regulation and sensory processing. • socialization and working as a group.
Bingo and Karin Hemphill of Tail Wags and Book Bags will join our pack for six special sessions. Throughout our time, our pack will be working on activities building up to these sessions, such as designing and sewing toys, fidgets, or ‘clothes’ for Bingo; creating and baking pup treats; caring for Bingo’s hygiene and other daily needs while discussing our own hygiene and needs, and understanding more about our own self-regulation and sensory processing by first understanding Bingo’s.
